The body of a 65-year-old man has been found dangling from a tree few metres from his home in Kitheuni village, Yatta sub-county, Machakos county on Wednesday.
Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang Changach confirmed the incident where he said that the man locked up his wife inside their house and went ahead to hang himself.
Changach said that the incident was reported by a family member whereby police visited the scene and took the body. He said that the reason behind the man taking his life has not been established but the police have commenced investigations.
The body was taken to Matuu median hospital mortuary. Cases of suicide have been reported to be on the rise in Machakos county despite authorities warning residents against the vice.
On Wednesday, a middle-aged man hanged himself on Mango tree near his home in Kawauni area, Kangundo sub-county, Machakos county.
Morris Okul Kangundo police station OCS confirming the incident said the man had an argument with his wife on Tuesday evening where he left and went away only for his body to be found dangling from a tree near his home. The body was taken to Kangundo level four hospital mortuary.
A 16-year-old student from Kakyuni area in Kangundo sub-county also hanged himself in his room on Tuesday evening. The incident was confirmed by Kakuyuni location chief Daniel Wambua. The student from Kathiani boys had agreed to meet with his mother in school where the mother arrived in the school where he never turned up.
