The countrywide immunization exercise has been declared successful in Yatta sub-county after the exercise surpassed the targeted numbers.

Confirming the numbers on Wednesday, the Yatta Medical officer in charge of the immunization exercise Partrick Muiruri stated 63,123 children had been reached. 

"The exercise has been very successful as by close of business today we have immunized 104% out of targeted 100% of children in Yatta sub-county," said Muiruri.

According to the officer, the target number of children to be immunized from age 9 months to 14 years in the area was around 52,000. 

The same situation was witnessed in neighboring Masinga sub-county where the numbers immunized is 62,535 out of the targeted possible 53,000. 

This is according to the health officer in Masinga sub-county Michael Kathuri. 

However parents whose children missed the immunization exercise have been urged to visit the nearest public hospital. 

In Matungulu sub-county 60,245 were immunized compared to targeted 51,695 children according to the area health officer Virginia Nzau. 

In Kangundo sub-county 36,372 children were immunized against Rubella and Measles up to the end of the exercise compared to the expected 36,037.

According to Robert Kilonzo Kangundo Health officer, the government unveiled the free immunization exercise against Rubella and measles Countrywide which has been ongoing for a week.
