Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi wants the national government to find a lasting solution to cattle rustling that continue to threaten security in Baringo, Pokot, Samburu and Turkana.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, the MP blamed the government for failing to curb rustling.
The MP who is also a member of the Parliamentary Security Committee urged security stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the problem.
“Time has come for the government and security stakeholders to confront cattle rustling and come up with solutions,” said Mwangangi.
The MP said that security of Kenyans should be taken seriously by the government.
Mwangangi who condemned the senseless killings in Nadome, Turkana county that occurred on Monday.
He questioned the government response to the cries of villagers who were allegedly being massacred.
“The government must read from other senseless massacred that have happened in the past and improve its response to disasters,” said the MP.
At least 54 people according to Red Cross Kenya were killed on Monday at Nadome in Turkana when people said to be cattle rustlers attacked the village.
The attackers are said to have driven away over 300 cattle as they butchered residents.
Mwangangi at the same time asked the government to arrest leaders allegedly fueling animosity in Baringo, Turkana, Pokot and Samburu.
He said the government must use its resources to provide peace in the affected counties.
Mwangangi further cautioned politicians against making statements that will not help anyone and instead join hands and confront cattle rustling, terrorism and general crime.
