The meeting which was attended by governors, senators, MPs, and MCAs in the larger Ukambani region including Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, Senator Johnston Muthama was aimed at discussing Kalonzo political future and his presidential strategy ahead of 2017 elections.

When contacted for comment, Mwangangi stated that he could not attend the meeting because he was not a member of the party and that he also had no time for party politics.

“As an area MP I had nothing compelling for me to attend the meeting that was just a boost for a falling leader who in my opinion should retire,” he said.

The meeting however went on with the former vice president firing a warning shot to party rebels saying that he was ready to clean up the party.

“If a person is elected on Wiper party ticket, unless you are a crook you cannot deviate from the party and therefore am giving a notice,” he said.

Leaders in attendance called on Kalonzo to vie for the presidency in 2017.
