Investigations are ongoing as to what caused a fire that razed down a military canteen at the Embakasi barracks on Sunday evening.
The 4 pm incident destroyed property worth millions, but luckily no one was injured.

According to military spokesman Col David Obonyo, the fire started in the Afco store, before it spread fast to other areas.
“The shop is usually closed on Sundays, so we do not know what caused the blaze but firefighters managed to contain it," he said as quoted by the Standard.
It took two hours for the firefighters with the help of military personnel to put the fire off, but by then it had engulfed the entire Armed Forces Canteen.
According to witnesses, the fire broke out at about 4 pm and swept through the entire staff canteen destroying stocks of unknown value.
It is not the first time such an incident is happening, with fire razing down a store department at the Department of Defence headquarters two months ago.
