Kuresoi South parliamentary hopeful Micah Kigen on Sunday tore into Mr Ruto terming him an opportunist whose sole aim was to gratify his personal ends at the community's expense.

Speaking to KTN News channel in his Rongai turf, Kigen who is eyeing the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket said the deputy was clearly misleading the Kalenjin nation to vote for a party whose future had been sealed.

"He should stop misleading the Kalenjin nation into voting for a party that is losing. He (Ruto) and president Uhuru Kenyatta were beneficiaries of sympathy votes following their cases at the International Criminal Court (ICC)but that has since changed as they were exonerated. They thus will be judged this time  on the basis of what they have delivered and we all know they have disappointed and so they stand to lose," he said.

The former legislator also accused the deputy president of rendering the Kalenjins 'homeless' after he decided to fold his United Republican Party (URP) to form the Jubilee party. He said members of the community felt safer in URP than in Jubilee which they were coerced to join.

Kigen further claimed that the National Super Alliance (Nasa) stood a better chance of winning the August polls as they had proved that they had the country's interest at heart if their manifesto was anything to go by.
