Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta's for failure to contain the ongoing strike.
According to the lawmaker, President Uhuru Kenyatta is being heartless for allegedly failing to intervene over the ongoing strike that has resulted to loss of lives.
The MP claimed that the Jubilee government is not willing to negotiate with doctors and nurses to end the strike that has paralyzed services in public hospitals across the country.
Speaking at KCB grounds in Kajiado on Friday during the International Anti-Corruption Day, Memusi said that it is unfortunate that Kenyans are dying while the government has not shown any serious commitment to end the strike.
The MP asked the Jubilee government to pay doctors for them to resume service delivery.
“The Jubilee government is heartless and is not concerned with the lives being lost as a result of the doctors’ strike,” he said.
The Kajiado Central MP said the government has money to pay doctors. He said that billions being allegedly looted in national government could have been used to pay doctors.
He stated that doctors’ demands must be met by the government.
At the same time, the MP accused the national government of failing to provide adequate money to fund the health sector in counties.
He claimed that the budgetary allocations for counties are not enough to fund the sector a move he said has contributed to poor service delivery.
