Speaking during an interview, Mwangi claimed that the KFCB chair was corrupt and not eligible to hold any public office.

"Ezekiel Mutua is not qualified to hold the job. He has never held a film forum to ask how films are done. It is wrong to  allow Mexican soap operas with kissing scenes to air but ban local programs with the same kissing scenes," reiterated Mwangi.

In his defence, Mutua said that the films and classification board had a constitution that it was following and the ban was called for.

"There is a KFCB constitution that states that the law exists for regulating the making of films, broadcast content, stage plays and so on," said Mutua.

The KFCB chair was recently criticised for banning an event titled, Rainbow Speed Dating, scheduled to take place in Nairobi. The organisers of the event were angered by the move urging Mutua to critically look at issues before making a judgement.
