Meru governor Peter Munya has asked Senator Kiraitu Murungi to desist from holding brief for him, and instead sell his agenda to the electorate.

Speaking in Buuri Constituency on Wednesday, Munya accused Kiraitu of peddling lies and propaganda about him, in a move aimed at winning the support of Meru residents ahead of the August polls.

Munya further affirmed his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid.

“I want to tell Kiraitu I have not appointed him to speak on my behalf. Let him speak about his agendas when he attends functions. He is not my spokesman, so he should not talk about who I am supporting for President in 2017. And I am here to state that my decision to support President Uhuru Kenyatta has not changed,” Munya said.

“They should stop pretending that they are the ones that are close to Uhuru that we have to consult them before speaking to the President,” he added.

Munya's remarks comes just days after Senator Kiraitu accused him of being a NASA supporter.
