The electoral commission is under scrutiny from the opposition team who are calling for its disbandment over alleged bias in handling electoral processes leading to mass protests around the country.

But Kitutu Chache South Mp Richard Onyonka on Wednesday accused the Cord principals of ‘misusing’ the youths by inciting them to demonstrate.

“I am really embarrassed with the Cord principals over the manner in which they are misusing youths in the ongoing protests against IEBC," said Onyonka.

"This is purely an unacceptable way of guiding the younger generation where they know the law is being broken,” he said.

“Leaders of such caliber cannot use the youths and later on run away in big vehicles leaving these poor youths engaging police in running battles," he added.

"What disappoints me further is that these leaders always ensure their daily business is running well while they are engaging the youths in non-profitable activities,” Onyonka added.

He challenged youths to engage themselves in social-economic activities that yield profits rather than joining Cord leaders whom he termed as visionless.

“These demos are completely unwarranted and it’s sad that these three leaders are visionless on matters concerning our youths. Time has come for youths to say no and slam leaders who are out to mislead them while at the end of the day they are struggling to put food on their table,” he added.
