A Kisii pastor has challenged education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to repent banning third term activities in schools among them prayers for candidates, arguing that the statement angered God.
The flamboyant Cabinet Secretary had issued a warning against third term activities among them candidates prayers; a statement that coincided with the rampant burning of schools across the country.
Among the schools that have witnessed anonymous fire incidents include Kaggwa Boys, Naikuru and Itierio Boys with reports indicating that Tabaka Boys was hit by the same tragedy on Monday night.
Henry Nyamwanda now wants the CS to seek intervention from God by withdrawing his statement and committing himself to prayers.
“It’s so unfortunate that our schools are burning at an unacceptable rate. I personally believe that the CS messed when he banned third term activities among them prayers for our candidates,” he said.
“He should withdraw his statements and commit himself to prayers. Anything that is Godly should never be challenged. No one has authority to ban prayers perhaps that is where the CS got it wrong. It’s not late because he can pray for forgiveness,” he said in a phone call.
Coincidentally, most of the schools which have reported fire incidents are located in Matiang’i's Gusii home turf.
