Mwaura is among 13 ODM legislators who recently ditched the party for Jubilee. He challenged the party leadership to take whatever action they please against him.

"I am not bothered by whatever action the party will take against me because my conscience is clear. I had to follow the wishes of the people of Ruiru," said Mwaura.

Speaking at Ndumberi Stadium during a thanksgiving service organised by local MP Jude Njomo over the weekend, Mwaura said he believed he had made the right decision and thus not afraid of any disciplinary action from the party.

"They can do whatever they want. The decision to leave ODM was a request from the people of Ruiru who I will be seeking to represent in Parliament after next year's General Election. I could not have refused because vying in Ruiru on an ODM ticket would have been tricky," he added.

He insisted he met ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga before leaving the party and told him that being in ODM could hinder his chances of clinching the Ruiru parliamentary seat in 2017.

The MP said the ongoing defections and infighting among leaders in the party spells doom for the party ahead of next year General Elections.
