Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has hit out at NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga claiming that the former Prime Minister (PM) is afraid of losing the October 26 repeat election.
Ichung’wa claims that Odinga’s visit to Europe is a wider plot to boycott the repeat presidential election.
Speaking during an interview on NTV’s AM live Show on Tuesday, the vocal Jubilee lawmaker said that Odinga knows that he does not have the numbers to win and is looking for escape routes of not participating in the poll.
The Jubilee MP alleged that Raila wants to create tension, panic and chaos and prevent Kenyans from voting in the repeat election.
“Raila Odinga’s scheme is well known and we want to tell him to respect Kenyans and the constitution,” he said during the interview on Tuesday.
Ichung’wa asked Raila to formally withdraw from the presidential race if he is not interested instead of allegedly issuing threats and ultimatums to the IEBC.
The vocal MP alleged that NASA’s agenda is to cause a constitutional crisis and later demand for ‘Nusu’ Mkate’ government.
Ichung’wa asked Raila to forget coalition government saying that Kenyans will vote on October 26 whether Odinga likes it or not.
The MP asked IEBC not be cowered by the opposition demands and instead continue with repeat poll preparations.
NASA has threatened to boycott the repeat presidential election if its demands are not addressed by IEBC.
The opposition is pushing for the removal of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and others top officials who allegedly bungled the August 8 presidential election that was nullified by the Supreme Court.
NASA is holding weekly protests (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) to push for electoral reforms before the repeat poll.
