Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has accused Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua of allegedly taking credit of the projects launched by the national government and deceiving locals that his administration has performed.
Makau claims that Mutua’s administration has not initiated any major project in Machakos since taking office in 2013.
Addressing supporters in Mavoko Town on Monday, the MP instead accused governor Mutua of playing Public Relations politics at the expense of service delivery.
“Let governor Mutua come out and show us any major project his administration has initiated since taking power in 2013,” he said.
Makau claimed that Mutua’s administration has performed poorly and has no right to demand for a second term.
The Mavoko MP accused Governor Mutua of spending his time on Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party at the expense of delivering services to the people.
The Wiper MP cautioned locals against endorsing Mutua’s re-election saying that his administration is a let down to the people.
Makau urged Machakos locals to vet aspirants eyeing political seats and vote for performers.
He observed that water, hunger, poor roads and unemployment remain key issues facing Machakos people.
Governor Mutua has been under attacks from critics who accuse him of allegedly using PR and publicity to gain political mileage.
The MCC leader however denies claims of using PR to get support saying that his administration has achieved the pledges it made to the locals in 2013.
Governor Mutua is seeking re-election on his Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party.
Mutua faces stiff competition from Chama Cha uzalendo (CCU) leader Wavinya Ndeti in his re-election bid.
Others eyeing to unseat Mutua are his deputy Bernard Kiala, East Africa legislative Member Peter Mathuki and Lemi Muia who is contesting on Jubilee ticket.
A recent survey by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) showed that Governor Mutua enjoys locals support at 75 per cent followed by Wavinya Ndeti at 8 per cent and Bernard Kiala at 7 per cent.
Mutua’s rivals however trashed the TIFA opinion poll terming it bias and not credible.
