Marsabit Governor hopeful Mohamud Mohamed has told the incumbent Ukur Yattani to prepare himself for a bruising battle on August 8.

Speaking to journalists in Marsabit town on Tuesday, the Jubilee governor hopeful   said that Yattani has not performed to deserve re-election.

He said that the county is still grappling with many challenges among them insecurity, poverty and unemployment.

Mohamed said that he is the perfect candidate who will bring development to residents.

He urged local to support his bid promising to initiate development projects that will empower them socially and economically.

 “Governor Yattani does not deserve re-election because there is nothing he has done for the people in the last four and half years he has been in power,” he said.

The Jubilee governor said that despite the county receiving huge funding from the national government, residents have remained poor.

Mohamed also accused Yattani of tribalism in allocation of key county public service jobs and resources.

He alleged that the governor has been favoring some residents from certain clans.

The governor hopeful said that his leadership if elected will champion equality and fairness.

He also promised to fight for the interest of marginalized groups especially persons living with disabilities.

Governor Yattani is seeking re-election on Frontier Alliance Party.

Others in the gubernatorial race are Umuo Adano vying on Kanu ticket and Ibrahim Wario contesting on ODM ticket.
