Kilifi governor hopeful Kazungu Kambi has launched a scathing attack on Governor Amason Kingi claiming that he (Kingi) is a failure who should not be re-elected in the August 8 polls.

Kambi claimed Kingi’s administration has performed poorly since being elected into office in 2013.

Addressing supporters in Malindi on Monday, Kambi said Kilifi residents have not benefited from the fruits of devolution.

Kambi said residents are still languishing in poverty despite the county government receiving hefty funding from the national government.

The former CS criticised Kingi’s government saying it has failed to boost the tourism and fishery sectors, thus killing the county’s economy.

“Governor Kingi is a failure and should not even contest for re-election as governor in the August 8 polls,” he said.

The governor hopeful said Kilifi’s economy has deteriorated under Kingi’s watch, adding that the government despite collecting huge revenue from residents has failed to boost the economy.

He said he will deliver residents from Kingi’s poor administration, adding that he will boost the economy by investing in infrastructure as well as the tourism and fishery sectors if elected governor.
