The former National Assembly speaker claims that Uhuru’s government continues to discriminate the North Eastern region when it comes to development.

Maalim said that Uhuru’s government has not initiated any major development project in the region since it took power in 2013.

“It is shameful that the Jubilee government continue to discriminate North Eastern region when it comes to development, yet it claims to be an inclusive government,” he said during an interview on KTN on Sunday.

The MP asked North Eastern region residents to vote out the Uhuru Kenyatta government in next year’s elections.

Maalim, who is eyeing the Garissa Township parliamentary seat in 2017, said that the government has done nothing to alleviate the hunger and starvation currently facing some parts of the region.

Maalim also claimed that security remains a major challenge in the region,

“It is time for voters to kick out Uhuru Kenyatta government and elect right leaders who will champion for the rights of every Kenyan without discrimination,” he said.

Maalim accused a section of leaders in the region of supporting the Uhuru government yet it has nothing to show off.

“We know some people who are Jubilee government ‘flower girls’ yet they cannot fight for the people’s inclusion in development projects,” he said.

Maalim, who is the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party disciplinary committee chairman said that he will lead fierce campaigns against Jubilee in the region.

He said that the region is an opposition stronghold, allying fears that the region is under the control of Jubilee.

The MP at the same time asked the government to expedite issuance of IDs to youth to enable them take part in the forthcoming coming 2017 polls.
