Secretary Ibrahim Omar said marginalisation was to blame for the underdevelopment in the northern region.

According to a local daily, Omar said despite Jubilee government claiming that Wajir County will support them in the August Polls, the residents are behind NASA, adding that it is the people who have the vote, and not their leaders.

Omar said the region will support NASA come the August 8 election and that the residents believe the issues facing them will genuinely be tackled under a NASA government.

Reelecting Jubilee means allowing all the predicaments the community has faced, including forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, to continue, he said.

The secretary said NASA government will bring the much-needed change accusing the Jubilee government of being riddled with corruption, nepotism and underdevelopment.

“Don’t be cheated that Wajir residents have shifted their allegiance to Jubilee. That has never happened. And it will be confirmed on August 8,” he said.

“An honest assessment shows that the Jubilee government has done nothing in Northeastern for the past four years. As a people we have been ignored and marginalised more than ever before,” he added.

“We only have the county governments to thank for the development we are witnessing, even with the meagre resources allocated from the national government,” said Mr Omar.
