Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has lashed out at his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho for allegedly disrespecting him during the Orange Democratic Movement's (ODM) 10th anniversary celebrations.
Mvurya was responding to Joho's remarks of ODM rebels being bought by the Jubilee government.
Mvurya said money is not enough to remove him from his gubernatorial seat, because he has wisdom.
“They said they are rich, we are not rich but we have God and we have wisdom that no one can remove from our heads,” he said.
He dismissed a section of politicians who have been saying he has committed political suicide by ditching Cord for Jubilee.
Mvurya maintained that his fate lies in the hands of Kwale residents.
The outspoken governor warned Joho against interfering with Kwale County, and instead urged him to concentrate on his county as he seeks to mobilise the coastal electorate to vote for ODM leader Raila Odinga in 2017.
“I have not gone to hold rallies in Tononoka or Mvita, why should somebody come here on party basis to demean us?” he asked.
He also assured his supporters that Joho and Raila will not manage to remove him from power, saying they are not the ones who elected him.
“Those who vowed to remove me from the seat are not serious. How can they remove me and it is the residents who elected me?” he asked.
He added: “This week people have put their heads up that they are coming to Kwale to finish me, they cannot finish me because I was elected by people who expect me to serve them,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
