Speaking on Saturday at Nyasore Secondary school during a church service, Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament Richard Onyonka said that the region has performed dismally over the years in national exams despite investments by area leadership in education.

“The area leadership is not to blame for the dismal performance we experience annually. We have invested massively in education sector and now it’s upon the teachers and students to give us a good report,” said Onyonka.

Onyonka said that his constituency leadership has bought more than seven school buses to area secondary schools besides equipping existing science laboratories and libraries.

“Through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty, we have bought about seven school buses to the schools within the constituency. We have also equipped Libraries and science laboratories,”

The second term ODM legislator further urged students to take advantage of mushrooming higher institutions and perform well to join them.

“We have so many institutions that are accredited in Kisii Town that our children should work hard and join. Kisii University is even near home and we have no reason as to why we shouldn’t join it,” noted Onyonke.

Onyonka promised school heads incentives in case of good performances that meets national standards besides urging parents to support education related initiatives.
