NASA leader Raila Odinga's statement on Thursday that DP William Ruto needs his support to win the 2022 presidential race is continuing to elicit mixed reactions among Kenyans.Speaking on Thursday during a funeral service in Kipkeleon East, Raila said Ruto can only ascend to the presidency in 2022 if he gives him his support. “My election victory has been stolen since 2007 and I would like to tell the Deputy President William Ruto that he will not ascend to the presidency without my political support,” said Raila.Speaking to KTN News on phone, former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu asked Kalonzo who is Raila's co-principal in NASA, to reconsider his political future in the coalition. The former legislator said it is unlikely that Raila will support Kalonzo for president in 2022.Mutambu said it would be wise for Kalonzo to dump the opposition coalition and chart his own political path."The alliance with Raila will not hold any water...He (Kalonzo) will not get any support from the Western region. Where he is now, he will not go anywhere...He will get help from elsewhere," said Mutambu.Mutambo was once Kalonzo’s ally before he decamped to Jubilee.A fortnight ago, during the people's assembly meeting in Machakos, Raila indicated that he would support the former Vice President in his 2022 State House bid. However, his latest statement is likely to unsettle the waters within the coalition.
