[Photo|PSCU]President Uhuru Kenyatta has challenged his opponent, Raila Odinga, saying he should have conceded defeat. In the August 8 general elections, IEBC declared Uhuru the president elect, but Raila who was his closest challenger, dismissed the results, saying they were rigged.Raila declined to concede defeat, and moved to the Supreme Court, where he filed a petition, to nullify Uhuru's victory.Speaking during the inauguration of the new Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, Uhuru said Raila should have emulated his National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principal, outgoing Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, by conceding defeat, and let Kenya move forward.Ruto was present during the event at the Bomet Green Stadium, where he handed over power to Laboso, saying he would diligently work with her, to serve Bomet residents.
“We are waiting for the Supreme Court decision but he (Raila) should have been a gentleman like his co-principle Isaac Ruto so that Kenyans can continue with their nation-building activities uninterrupted,” said Uhuru, Tuesday. He said with Jubilee having majority elected governors, senators, MPs and MCAs, it was clear that Kenyans chose the party to take the country forward.“Jubilee has 27 governors, 28 senators, 31 women representatives, 170 MPs and majority MCAs. With majority at all levels, it is clear that Jubilee took the victory,” he added. Also sworn-in was the Bomet Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok.
