As the nation gears towards the August 8, General Elections conversations around the 2022 succession politics are very much alive with politicians talking about it even as Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta compete for the seat in 2017.
Deputy President William Ruto, Wipers Kalonzo Musyoka, Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and most recently Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua have all stated their desire to take a shot at the presidency in 2022.
Among the Jubilee Party plans, it seems as it has already been cast in stone that DP Ruto will be its presidential candidate in 2022.
However, Nakuru gubernatorial aspirant on Jubilee ticket Mr Lee Kinyanjui has some advice for the Kalenjin community if they are really keen to ensure the son of Sugoi and self-proclaimed hustler takes charge of the house on the hill in 2022.
Kinyanjui told the people of the Rift that they need to stand with DP Ruto and vote as a bloc for Jubilee if they really wanted the very best for their son.
"If you don't vote DP Ruto as a bloc, then you are jeopardising his 2022 presidential bid," he said in Mauche, Njoro sub-county on Thursday.
Kinyanjui was speaking in relations to the 'rise' of Bomet county governor Issac Ruto who has since joined opposition coalition NASA."Ruto needs the support of the community," said Kinyanjui.
"How can you (Kalenjins) drop the second-most powerful post in the country and gamble with a junior individual representing only one county?" he added.
