This comes after the former Devolution Cabinet Secretary linked the DP’s office to the scam when she appeared before the Public Accounts Committee on Thursday to answer queries on the scandal.

Waiguru named Farouk Kibet and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as beneficiaries of the funds looted from the NYS, which was under her docket.

Farouk is Ruto’s aide, while Murkomen is the DP’s close ally.

Speaking in Nyeri County on Saturday, Ruto said, “Where there is theft of public resources as in the case of NYS, under the ministry led by Waiguru, we have taken action. But people should not politicise corruption just for the sake of it. Where we know theft occurred, those who are there must take responsibility.”

Ruto told Waiguru to carry her own cross because she was ultimately in charge when the scam was perpetrated.

Other key suspects in the scam, Josephine Kabura and Former Principal Secretary Peter Mangiti, also said Waiguru was behind the scandal.

The DP also accused the opposition of ‘manufacturing scandals’ to taint Jubilee administration’s image.
