Cord leader Raila Odinga has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto should be happy the ICC did not bar them from vying in the 2013 general election.

Raila said this on Tuesday following the president's hinting at a possible withdrawal by Kenya from the International Criminal Court.

He dismissed the Hague-based court of turning into a tool of world power politics instead of dispensing the justice it was meant to protect.

"The President and his DP were only allowed to vie by the ICC out of pity. They should not dare pull the nation out of the court," said Raila.

He also hit out at Uhuru for not tackling the problem of corruption that has now become an issue of national concern.

He was speaking during the Wiper Party delegates conference at Kasarani in Nairobi.

"It is a shame," he said.
