The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) is afraid of losing the 2017 general elections and want to create political anxiety in the country through their anti-IEBC protests, a Kiambu Member of Parliament (MP) has said.
Kiambu Township MP Jude Njomo said that opposition leaders have sensed defeat in the 2017 general elections.
Mr Njomo accused Cord leaders of wanting to disrupt peace through their anti-IEBC protests.
“Opposition leaders already know that they have no chance of forming the government in 2017 and want disrupt peace through their protests,” said Njomo.
The lawmaker who addressed journalists at Kiambu town on Friday warned Cord against going on with their weekly protests.
The MP said that Cord will gain nothing if it persists with the protests.
Njomo also hit out at the opposition accusing them of playing double standards in their quest to have the electoral commission disbanded.
“These are the same people who oversaw the establishment of the current IEBC yet are the same people who want the commissioners sent home,” he wondered.
Cord has maintained that it will continue with its Monday protests until when the IEBC commissioners will be sent home.
