Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has reiterated his government's commitment to ensuring that every household has access to clean water.
The county boss said they will drill boreholes in all parts of the county which will reduce water scarcity in Eldoret town and its environs."As a government, we have decided to buy our own borehole drilling equipment which will make our work fast and efficient, this time we will not give tenders but do the job ourselves," Mandago said in Eldoret town, Sunday."Tendering process takes a lot of time and thereafter those contracted does a shoddy job despite being paid a lot of money. This time we are serious and will ensure that we deliver water to every doorstep" he added.Mandago said in the next 5 years, women in the county will no longer carry water on their backs.He further directed the County Executive in charge Environment, Tourism, and Natural Resource Mary Njogu to always consider youths, women, and people with disabilities while giving out tenders."The department should stop buying seedlings from brokers but instead buy from special groups for them to be empowered financially," noted the Jubilee governor.To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your Whatsapp number to 0740949990.
