The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leader Raila Odinga has thrown a scathing attack at Gusii leaders who have been leading delegations to State House, Nairobi warning them of an impending defeat in the 2017 elections.
A section of ODM leaders from the region led by Kisii County Senator Chris Obure have held several meetings with the Jubilee leadership which culminated in a grand meeting between Gusii MCAs and President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House , Nairobi last week.
Addressing Kisii County leaders on Monday, Raila expressed his disappointment in the leaders and accused them of being ‘too gullible’ to be hoodwinked by the Jubilee administration.
“Gusii people know how we have suffered under the Jubilee government and I know they will vote against it next year. It’s really worrying that people who should be protecting your interests are busy pushing for their selfish interests in the name of development at State House,” he said.
Raila added: “the new Constitution was framed in the manner that citizens should not beg for development. Parliament is in charge of allocations and we expect the MPs running to State House to come with proposals and task the government to work on them”.
He urged county residents to vote for sober leaders with political stands and interests of people at heart.
“If they cannot change for the better, I want you to vote them out and elect people with vision. Visiting State House to beg for development is an infringement of the Constitution. As the electorate, you need to do away with such gullible leaders,” he said.
