West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo has said Kanu leaders who have defected to the newly Jubilee Party will not be re-elected in 2017.
"We have seen a few misplaced elected leaders purporting to have ditched the party through which they were elected. I wonder who will give them mandate next year yet they have abandoned the electorate,"said Lonyangapuo.
The senator said the independence party is keen on retaining regions represented by Kanu elected leaders while eating into other zones in next year’s elections.
Kanu has lost five of its nine top elected leaders to Jubilee.
Kanu leaders who have defected are West Pokot’s Simon Kachapin, Mogotio MP Hellen Sambili, Kuresoi North MP Moses Cheboi, Belgut’s Eric Keter, and Mr Samuel Moroto of Kapenguria.
