According to the Election Laws, (Amendment) Bill 2015, all MPs should have degrees for them to be eligible to vie for the seat.

Speaking at Gathuthuni Primary School in Kirinyaga County during a funds drive, Duale said the law will come into operation during the 2022 elections, but urged the MPs to take advantage and enroll in courses.

The issue had many MPs worried that they might be locked out of next year’s elections, considering it’s only a few months away.

The National Assembly Leader of Majority further urged Meru Governor Peter Munya and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua to denounce their parties and join the newly formed Jibilee party.
