Former KTN investigative journalist Mohammed Ali (Moha) has assured Nyali residents of his commitment to transform the economy of Nyali constituency. He said no amount of intimidation from his political competitors will scare him from pursuing his political dream.Moha who was trounced by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s cousin, Said Abdallah, during the ODM primary elections on April 22 will be vying for the Nyali MP seat on an independent ticket.“You the people of Nyali deserve a leader, not a surrogate,” he said on Sunday in Mombasa during his tour of the constituency.“You deserve a leader who will listen to your issues, work with you on your problems, and together, deliver the promise of better livelihoods for you and your children,” he added. He said he understands better problems facing Nyali people and is well positioned to solve them.Moha maintains he was rigged out during the ODM nominations but constantly reiterates his confidence in winning the MP contest on August 8.He was once a close ally of Mr Joho until after the nominations when he accused the county chief of imposing his cousin on Nyali voters. He has repeatedly claimed Joho influenced the outcome of the ODM Nyali primary poll in his disfavour.“Make no mistake, I am in the race to challenge those who want Nyali to fall into the hands of the corrupt, but I will do so with my ideals, my morals, and my belief that come rain or shine, I will do my utmost for you,” he said.Moha remains one of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s close political associates in Mombasa County.
