Mombasa Women Representative Mishi Mboko has dismissed Senator Hassan Omar and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti's announcement of jointly opposing Governor Hassan Joho.
Mboko dismissed the move as inconsequential, adding that ODM remains the most popular party in the Coast region.
She said the duo will go nowhere as they also failed in their campaign against Joho in 2013.
“In 2013, Awiti, Omar and Shahbal all campaigned against Joho and he floored them. I don’t think there is anything special they are going to do this time round,” she said.
Mboko said Joho's platoon comprising of Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi, Badi Twalib (Jomvu), Rashid Bedzimba (Kisauni) and herself is the strongest in the county.
This comes after Senator Omar said the Wiper Party will unite to unseat Joho in 2017.
“Mr Awiti and I want to unseat the incumbent. But our candidature will be decided either through nomination or an internal party process. But whoever comes out the winner in whichever way, we will all back him. The agenda is to remove Mr Joho,” said Omar.
