Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina has criticised plans Kiambu County government to dissolve Thika Water and Sewerage Company (Thiwasco) without involving him.
Governor Ferdinand Waititu's administration recently announced plans to dissolve Thiwasco and seven other water and sewerage companies in the county into one in a move said would enhance efficiency. But Wainaina, through his Personal Assistant John Mwangi, wondered why Waititu failed to involve him in the plans to do away with Thiwasco, despite him being the elected representative of the affected residents. He asked the county government to stop the plans and involve all the major stakeholders in its efforts to transform water sector in the area.“As the representative of the people, the governor ought to have at least informed the MP of his plans rather than doing things behind his back. This move is suspect and we will not allow the county government to take us for a ride. If this continues, we will express our discontent the best way we know how,” warned Mwangi on Tuesday, as quoted by Thika Town Today. The PA said governance was never about flexing muscles but to offer much-needed services to the electorates.“It doesn’t mean that the office of the Thika Town MP is opposed to the move but we are simply telling the governor, ‘come let’s reason together’," he said.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kiambu that you want Hivisasa to cover?
