The grandmother of the child is said to have gone to a nearby school to pay fees for her other grandchild, leaving the young child tucked in his bed.
The fire is said to have started from a sack of charcoal that was in the house, which caught fire and leading to the spread to where the boy was sleeping.
The neighbors were attracted by the heavy smoke from the house and rushed to the rescue.
They tried to put off the fire in vain, and at the same time unaware that the child was still in the house.
The grandmother on hearing the news that her house was on fire, she rushed back, but by the time they managed to put off the fire, the young child had already lost his life.
