Young girls in Kiambu County have been advised to stop using contraceptives to avoid infertility in future.
According to Jane Karimi a nurse at Kiambu Level 5 hospital, there is rampant misuse of contraceptives by young girls.
She said misuse of the emergency pills and implant as family planning method are the most abused by the young girls.
"It is sad that young girls aged 13 years are using various family planning methods as a way of avoiding teenage pregnancies in the region. Young girls may end up being infertile if they won't stop the misuse of contraceptives," said the nurse on Tuesday during a sensitization workshop at the hospital.
Karimi said misuse of E-pills may lead to bareness.
“I am urging young girls to abstain from sex so that they can avoid dragged into the use of contraceptives," she added.
She noted that contraceptives are only meant for married women who have children who in case they became infertile they would not regret unlike teenagers who don't have children.
