Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has questioned President Uhuru Kenyatta's willingness to fight corruption and said that his (Kenyatta's) alleged helplessness does not inspire the fight against the vice.
Earlier, the seemingly frustrated President Kenyatta accused government officials of perpetrating corruption and distanced himself from the rampant corruption cases in the country.
He said that he has provided enough resources to fight the vice yet the situation is worsening.
But in a quick rejoinder, Mr Mudavadi accused Kenyatta of being vague in lamenting that he has been let down by anti-corruption agencies.
"His demeanour was that of throwing the towel which amounts to executive surrendering to corruption cartels," Mudavadi said.
According to the former Vice President, Kenyatta's statement is not that of the person determined to root out rampant corruption in the country.
"The posture of helplessness does not inspire war against corruption. What then is the message to ordinary Kenyans?" he posed.
