The government has said that NASA's plans to stop President Uhuru Kenyatta's swearing in will not succeed.

Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, government spokesman Eric Kiraithe said the event will go on as planned and since the president won fairly in the repeat presidential elections.

“The law is the law and Kenya has adequate capacity to enforce it. What is legally binding to be done shall be done whether one or two people like it or not,” Eric Kiraithe said yesterday.

He argued that with the current constitution, there was little NASA could do.Kiraithe challenged the opposition to use specific organs to change the law if they want a different operating ground.

“If you are not happy with the Constitution as it is, there are avenues in Parliament and a referendum. These other noises will only destabilise this country,” he said.
