North Mugirango MP Charles Geni believes plans by former ODM party Secretary General Ababu Namwamba’s to fight party leader Raila Odinga backfired and has urged him to reconsider making commitments with the party.
Namwamba made a dramatic exit from the party recently citing frustrations from top party leadership.
But Mr Charles Geni has claimed that Namwamba’s plans hit a snag and has urged him to reconsider reconciling with the party leaders for 2017 survival.
“It is sometimes good to be ambitious but smartness should guide us. Namwamba is one of our own and in my view; his move from ODM backfired because it was thwarted easily by my Party leader. Time has come for him to come back home,” he said.
“You cannot fight someone with immense experience in politics and expect to survive. It’s not late and my hope is that he should reconcile with the party for the sake of his own political future. His plans didn’t work as maybe he wanted,” Geni said.
Geni also said that Mr Namwamba’s political mantle would have rocked the nation in the next couple of years but insisted only if he remained in ODM.
“He had a bright future in Kenyan politics and that could have been possible in ODM. Fighting Raila was his undoing but hopefully, he has learnt from the mistakes and he would come back and build his political future,” he said.
