Mr Roba said officers and Kenya Police Reservists have been deployed by the Jubilee’s government to different parts of the region to curb insecurity.
He said the Jubilee government has recruited more police reservists in Mandera with an aim at boosting security following frequent attacks by Al-Shabaab.
The governor who was speaking during a rally said the county’s biggest problem in realising economic growth that has been affected by the rampant Al-Shabaab attacks.
He said before he became governor in 2013, Mandera was swarming with Al-Shabaab militants but the security agencies have helped in the fight against terrorism following a spate of attacks on Kenyan soil by the militants that have claimed hundreds of lives.
“Because of the efforts of the national government, more KDF, GSU and RDU officers were deployed to strategic places along the border, reducing terror attacks to manageable levels.”
“For this reason I am appealing to residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for Jubilee on Election Day,” said Mr Roba.
Governor Roba also urged Muslim and Christian clerics to rally their followers behind Uhuru so that the region can benefit from more development projects.
