Mandera governor Ali Roba alongside other County elected leaders and 2017 aspirants held a public rally at Mandera Bus Park in Mandera town, Thursday.
Roba said he addressed the security situation facing the region to the national government singlehandedly over the last three years, depsite criticism from area senator Billow Kerrow.
"It's quite unfortunate that the senator of Mandera County embarked on attacking the County leadership through his "numbered" posts from his comfy environment in Nairobi without ever setting his foot in Mandera in an attempt to understand the true situation and get to know the challenges we go through,'' said Roba.
Terming him as a 'Facebook senator', Roba said it was unfortunate for Kerrow to forget his responsibilities for Madera residents.
"It is also unfortunate and downright immoral for the "Facebook senator" to have forsaken the leadership responsibilities entrusted on him by the residents to have never shown any remorse or concern for the challenges the population has undergone. As if he has just waken up from a slumber the senator is suddenly showing some "concerns" for the people of Mandera County.''
He added: "Its important that he gets to know E-representation is different from real representation. I challenge the Hon Senator to leave his comfort zone and engage the public at the grassroots level. Believe me, the picture on the ground is completely different."
The Jubilee governor noted his administration has always put service delivery as its first priority.
"Like I said before, the decision to elect, re-elect and remove leaders lies with you. I want the people I am serving to decide who is to lead the County after the 2017 elections. Thank you and God bless you!" Roba told residents.
