Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has been told to forget the Cord presidential ticket because he does not have the numbers.
Speaking in Kakamega on Sunday, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, whose New Ford-Kenya party dissolved to form the Jubilee merger, said Wetangula’s Ford kenya was a regional outfit, unlike ODM.
“The other day he was busy waving to the trees and birds in Kakamega, because people failed to attend his function,” he said.
“Let’s face it. Wetang’ula has remote or zero chances of getting the Cord ticket. It is a tall order and it is good to be realistic, rather than cheating ourselves,” Lusaka said, as quoted by the Star.
Tongeren MP Eseli Simiyu and Kiminini’s Chris Wamalwa (of Ford Kenya) however dismissed Lusaka’s remarks, saying he does not speak for opposition Cord.
There has been anxiety among Cord supporters on who will lead the coalition against President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee.
ODM leader Raila Odinga, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka and Wetangula are all eyeing the Cord ticket.
However, Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama last week said they have already picked their presidential candidate, and are only waiting for the right time to make it public.
