The analyst says that the country could not be grappling with the high cost of living if the opposition had kept Jubilee administration in checks especially on food security.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Opinion Court on Thursday, Kisiangani accused the opposition of keeping quiet until the last minute when Kenyans were unable to feed themselves.

“The truth of the matter is that the opposition failed on its role as government watchdog and should also take blame for the high cost of living,” he said during an interview on Citizen TV.

The analyst at the same time warned opposition against using the high cost of living to campaign votes saying it cud backfire on them.

He said that Kenyans are not fools adding that opposition should look for other campaign topics and not the high cost of living.

Kisiangani at the same time criticized Jubilee administration saying its food security policies are wanting.

He said that is unfortunate that the country is importing food when it has the resources to produce and feed sits citizens.

The opposition is blaming the government over the high cost of living that has seen prices for basic commodities like maize floor, sugar and milk skyrocket in the last five months.

On Tuesday, the government reduced the cost of maize floor with a 2 Kilogram packet now going for Sh90 up from Sh150 last week.

The government says that it has put in place proper measures to lower down prices for other basic like sugar and milk. The Jubilee administration has at the same time warned the opposition against taking advantage of the high cost of living to campaign and discredit its development projects.
