This comes at a time when politicians from both Jubilee and Cord coalition are traversing the region to woo more than 1 million voters ahead of the 2017 polls, with Deputy President William Ruto and Cord leader Raila Odinga visiting the region for a record three occasions in two months.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Itierio on Sunday, Deputy President William Ruto challenged the community to make a solid stand, and warned of staggering decisions.

“In politics, you cannot serve two masters. It’s perilous and as an experienced politician, I have to tell you that trying to serve two sides, you will end up losing the game,” Ruto said.

“As Jubilee, we do not allow people to make staggering decisions. You are either with us or not. So this is the golden opportunity for you to make a critical decision. We want to move ahead without these political theatrics,” he added.

He tasked Ford People leaders from the region to finalize on the preparations of disbanding the party in favour of the newly formed Jubilee Alliance Party.

“The Jubilee government signed a post-election pact with Ford People, and I have seen most members of that party supporting the government. This is now the time for you to disband the party and join JAP as a community. We need the Abagusii to be in government and I hope you will not hesitate to join us,” he said.

“We cannot allow instance where you wait for us to fight so hard to win and you come demanding that we sign a post-election agreement. That will not work this time around. You decide whether you’re in the noisemakers side (Cord), or serious minds who are working hard to improve our economy. Make a decision as Gusii people and that is democracy,” Ruto added.

Among those present during the meeting included Richard Tong’i (Nyaribari Chache), Stephen Manoti (Bobasi), Zebedayo Opore (Bonchari) and top county leadership led by Governor Ongwae.
