Barely three weeks after he was heckled in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta by residents in Nakuru town, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua seems to have gotten a new political lifeline after Uhuru hailed him as a committed leader.
Speaking during a funds drive in aid of Mother of Mercy Girls in Kihingo in Njoro on Saturday, Uhuru praised Mbugua as a leader who is committed to changing the livelihoods of his electorate.
"You are lucky to have a leader who promises and implements that which he has promised and that is what we want as Jubilee government," Uhuru said.
Three weeks ago, Mbugua found the going tough as he was booed in his backyard in the presence of the President and his deputy William Ruto.
It took the intervention of the DP to calm the charged crowd even as Mbugua was not given another opportunity to address his constituents, forcing many to brand him as the 'unwanted governor'.
In his defence, however, the county boss singled out a section of his political detractors for hiring the hecklers.
