Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has taken a swipe at ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi, accusing him of ‘doing nothing’ for the Luhya people.

His war with Mudavadi comes a day after Wamalwa was attacked during the Maragoli Cultural Festival at Mbale grounds in Vihiga County.

Wamalwa was pelted with stones by angry youth during the event, and his motorcade was forced to flee amid angry chants from the youth.

According to Wamalwa, Musalia was solely responsible for the chaotic chaos.

“When I asked my brother Musalia if it was all Luhya or purely a Maragoli event, he gave me the impression that we were unwelcome because of the political situation,” lamented Wamalwa.

Mudavadi, on the other hand, expressed disappointment at the turn of events but defended himself saying Wamalwa never informed him of his intentions to attend the event.

Wamalwa then hit out at the ANC leader, saying he did not have qualities to lead.

“To me it is regrettable and it also demonstrates regrettably a total and disastrous failure in leadership on the part of Mudavadi who has demonstrated that he has failed even to rise to the occasion of being a Luhya leader. He has failed to show leadership credentials of being a national leader if he could fail to contain his people,” he said as quoted by a local daily.

The region’s supremacy war looks set to continue, with both leaders hoping to build the support base ahead of the 2022 elections.
