Machakos Woman Representative hopeful Agnes Kavindu has launched a scathing attack on Wiper party leader and NASA presidential deputy flag bearer Kalonzo Musyoka saying that he is to blame for high poverty levels in Ukambani.

Kavindu claims that Kalonzo’s long tenure in government has not improved the socio-economic landscape of Ukambani.

Addressing supporters during a campaign rally in Kangundo on Thursday, Kavindu said that Ukambani region would have been far by now in terms of development if Kalonzo had taken the interests of locals seriously when he was in government.

“Kalonzo has been our leader and political kingpin for many years but he has nothing to show for it because Ukambani has remained poor,” she said as quoted by the People Daily.

Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama’s ex-wife said that the region is tired of being poor and is ready to work with leaders who will bring development.

“I feel bad when Kalonzo stands up and speaks on what NASA plans to do yet he himself has not helped Ukambani region get out poverty,’’ she said.

Kavindu, who is contesting for the Woman Rep seat on Jubilee Party ticket said that Ukambani will no longer play to Kalonzo’s politics.

She said that the region has decided to back Jubilee’s re-election and there is no going back.

Kavindu said that there is hope for Kamba’s in Jubilee and that NASA should forget about the Kamba vote.

She urged resident’s not to listen to NASA’s old fashioned and visionless politics.

Kavindu is eyeing to unseat incumbent Dr Susan Musyoka in the August 8 polls.

Muthama’s ex-wife says that she will win the Machakos Woman rep seat with a landslide.

Dr Musyoka is seeking re-election as an independent candidate after losing the Wiper party ticket to Joyce Kemene.

Others in the race are Jane Ndeti contesting on Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU), Francisca Mutinda vying on Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party and Rita Ndunge contesting as an independent candidate.
