Kisii leaders have welcomed President Kenyatta and his Deputy’s visit to Kisii, saying they have the right to visit any part of the country.
Led by Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, the leaders said the duo are welcome to campaign in Gusiiland, but should forget counting on their votes.
“We have no problem with the President going anywhere and everywhere. We cannot do what they did to us in Kapsabet on Sunday where they attempted to disrupt our rally,” said Bosire.
President Kenyatta’s Jubilee party is set to hold a series of rallies in the larger Kisii and Nyamira counties, as they seek to have a bite of the regions’ votes, an area considered to be the opposition’s stronghold.
Bosire, a critic of the Jubilee government maintained his stance that the region will support the opposition, and nothing will change that.
“We do not have them at heart. Our resolve to support NASA is resolute."
“There are fundamental issues of national nature like compensation of IDPs who were displaced during the 2007 post-election violence. IDPs from Kisii were not compensated and we have consistently raised the issue but it has not been addressed,” Bosire was quoted as saying by the Star.
Bosire took time to point out on the shortfalls of the current administration in Gusiiland, noting the slow implementation of infrastructure projects like roads and schools.
“They launch construction of roads in Kisii and Nyamira but the following day, the construction companies abandon the site,” he claimed.
The president is set to address rallies at Masimba, Keroka, Keumbu, Jogoo (Kisii town), Nyatieko, Nyakoe, Suneka and Tabaka on Tuesday, before moving to Nyamira’s Ikonge, Ekerenyo, Nyamaiya, Nyamira, Kimera, Magombo, Rigoma and Nyansiongo on Wednesday.
