Youths in the country have been advised to focus on other forms of employment instead of only seeking to get into the white collar jobs.

Chancellor of the University of Eldoret Prof. Judith Bahemuka says the country's job market is quickly becoming crowded hence need for the young generation to 'think of other way to make you have employment'.

Speaking during the first day of the UoE Agri-Business trade fair in Eldoret, Thursday, Prof. Bahemuka noted that Agriculture provides a perfect opportunity for employment to the youths.

"Agriculture is the backbone of the country's GDP but we will never have a viable agriculture sector without young people joining it," noted Prof. Bahemuka.

"Young people need to look at where they can make a difference in farming," she added.

The UoE Chancellor also challenged devolved units in the North Rift region to collaborate with them in training young people and develop value chain and improve livelihoods through Agricultural activities.

"Agriculture will play a key role for our country to achieve vision 2030 hence need for more emphasis on it," she added.
