The protesting groups said that they had already filled forms applying for Uwezo fund but the money’s release was being delayed.

The leaders of the groups said that they have been conducting seminars on how they will use the money but they have not received a penny and when they follow up all they are told are ‘stories’.

“All of us here are groups that applied for Uwezo fund and went for training for one week and we were to be given certificates from September last year. To date no one has received any certificate. When come to check with them they tell us that the money is there and we shall be given,” said one of the protesters.

Rose Nyagari, a protestor, faulted the leaders in charge of the fund saying that they have been lying to them for a longtime. She added that that was the main reason the area always lagged behind development wise.

“They said they were to give us the money on Friday but when we got there they said that one of them was not around to sign for the release of the money. These delays are what is making this place to develop slowly,” she said.
