Drama ensued in Mumias town on Wednesday when area MP Benjamin Washiali was attacked by rowdy youth.
The MP was attacked as he led youth in erecting a billboard that bears portraits of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto in Mumias town.
Those who were against the development are said to have quickly mobilized youth who chased Mr Washiali and his team away.
Youth allied to both groups later on clashed and some were injured.
The fighting did not last long as youth accompanying Washiali scampered for safety.
Washiali is among the few MPs from the former Western province supporting the Jubilee administration.
Cord leader Raila Odinga is currently on a tour in Western, a region where he still enjoys huge support.
